Private instruction offers students the opportunity beyond the classroom experience to develop advanced right and left hand techniques such as vibrato, shifting, bowing, listening and music reading skills, and some assistance in preparing CISD Honor Orchestra auditions, YORK JH auditions, and solo & ensemble material.

 

The secret to success in music is practice. What and how to practice differs from student to student depending on their own abilities and limitations. While the school program has numerous musical benefits and positive aspects, individual attention is often limited due to the large number of students involved. All students are strongly encouraged to take private lessons, particularly if they have the desire and dedication to advance as a competitive performer or are 6th grade beginners. Many top ranked orchestra programs are successful, in part due to individual training through private lessons.

 

 Space is limited.  Tuition rates vary and are between the instructor and the parent.  Private lessons can be taken during the student’s orchestra class or after school on designated days.
